BREAKING AND ENTERING.
TWELVE MONTHS' GAOL. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent) WANGANUI, this day. In the Supreme Court to-day Harold Robert Conroy appeared for sentence on a charge of breaking and entering and theft at Eltham. Accused stated that he was a hard-working man of good character, that he took the money to get cured of an ailment, otherwise he would have had to chuck his job. In reply to Mr. Justice Reed, accused admitted that he had been convicted of mischief in 1920, and on ten charges of breaking, entering and theft in 1921. He was sentenced to twelve months' imprisonment, the judge adding that "the gaol surgeon will treat you."
