The same class of Material had been supplied previously at 7/5 each. The Hobson 6treet electric power station will Ibe transferred to the control of the Electric Power Board, on March 31. which will affect the employment of 2!) men now working there. Reporting on the question to the City Council last night, Mr. A. E. Ford, the tramways manager, stated that up to the present the Power Board had taken over only six of these men. and another half-dozen had been absorbed in other tramway departments. Part of the plant, he suggested, should remain in commission, as a reserve plant supplying the Epsom sub-station, and for tliat about twelve men -would he needed. Of the 29 men two of them, Messrs, Manneor (superintendent), and Peterson (second engineer), had been over 20 years in the Council's service and thirteen others had been there over ten years. The Council decided to confer with the Power Board concerning. both plant and employees.
