MATERNITY HOME.
HAMILTON SCHEME APPROVED. (Bj- Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. The proposed establishment of a maternity home at Hamilton received general support at a meeting of the Waikato Hospital Board to-day. Mr. C. G. W. Barton outlined the steps taken by the borough council to acquire a site. The need for such a home, he said, was undoubted, as it would be intended largely for poorer people, to insure that they would get the best medical and nursing skill. The proposal was better j than that for a St. Helens Home, as the former would be under the direct control of the board. It would also afford nurses ' an opportunity for qualifying in another essential branch of their profession. The ■ board approved of the proposal, while not committing itself to any expenditure.
