DOMINION PRINTERS.
THE ASTNUAL MEETING. (By Telezraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, this day. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Master Printers' Association was held to-day. Mr. N. Mcßobie president) referred to the question of displaying Dominion printing and lithographic -work, etc, at the British. Empire Exhibition, and expressed the view that it would be a better proposition to make a display at the Dunedin Exhibition next year. On the question of supplies he commented that, while the Dominion printers favoured buying these within the Empire, yet printers in giving preference to v British-made goods found , that some British traders used cheap' Continental papers and exported these j to the Dominion in competition with! manufacturers who were unable to secure low-priced., foreign stock. Consequently they could -not meet competition. If British traders were not prepared to | give favourable consideration, Dominion j printers* couft. not indulge in sentimental \ preference. In reference to the superannuation committee set up to work with any committee which might be! appointed by newspaper proprietors, the j general opinion prevailed that this ulti- I mately must become a Government j undertaking. Officers were elected as follows: Mr. N. Mcßobie, president; W. T. Somerville, vice-president; council, Messrs. W. C. Cargill (South Auckland), A. A. Willis j (Wanganui), T. Jones and H. Coull (Wellington), J. Gamble (Christchurch),' H. Howie (Dunedin).
