A. and Mrs. Milne, of Thames, are staying at the Star Hotel. Major and Mis 3 Whitney have returned to Auckland after a* visit to Australia Dr. and Mrs. Martin Ross, of Otahuhu, left yesterday on a short holiday visit to the Hot Lakes district. Mr. P. Hally, Conciliation Commissioner, Auckland, will return from Whangarei to-morrow morning. Mr. and Mrs. W. and Miss Livingstone, and Mrs. T. Livingstone, of Sydney, are staying at Stonehurst. Messrs. It. W. C. Birch (Invercargill), F. A. King (Melbourne), and C. Hodgson (Hamilton), are staying at the Star Hotel. Professor A. C. Patterson has arrived at Auckland to take up his position as professor of classics at the Auckland University College. © Captain Cameron, formerly in command of the Corinna, Ms at present in charge of the Government launch Taraoa on Lake Te Anau. Messrs. R. Renshaw (Tauranga), F. Andrews (Opononii, F. G. Hodge and W. A. Esson (Christchurch), are visitors at the Central Hotel. Dr. H. Douglas has been elected for the _eat on the Hamilton High School Board rendered vacant by the resignation of Mr. A. K. Manning. Mr. A. Hamilton, formerly associate to Mr. Justice Reed, has resigned, his position being taken by Mr. W. W. Kin<*, formerly associate to "Mr. Justice Hosking. Messrs. A. Hay (Dunedin), E. Gilmore (Detroit), J. McDonald. C. J. McCarthy (Wellington), V. E. Hamilton and ■!. _. Miller (Christchurch), are at the Grand Hotel. Mr. A. Slinger, newly appointed engineer to the Takapuna" Borcugh Council, is expected to arr'.ve at Auckland from the South to take over his new position on the 25th instant. Messrs. T. S. Ronal.lson. G. Captain F. A. Somerville, D.5.0., R.N.. chief staff officer to the commodore of the_ New Zealand Naval Station, is on a short visit to Auckland in connection [with the visit of the Japanese Naval ! Squadron. He will return to Wellir.gI ton this evening. | Sir Thomas and Lady Mackenzie, who sail by the Corinthic for England on February 29. will be accompanied by Mrs. Bruce Mackenzie and Mrs. Clutha Mackenzie. Lady Mackenzie will be a passenger for the South by to-night's express. Colonel H. D. O.
