Parr, in his capacity | of Minister of Education, was met to- i day by a large number of deputations from the school committees and Farm- j ers' I'nions of the surrounding districts. | The Minister also journeyed to Kiwi- j tahi, where he unfurled the flag on the j new flagpole erected in the school I grounds. At Waitoa he performed the opening ceremony of a new school. At Morrinsvillc Mr. Parr was met by a deputation from the Morrinsvillc, Tatuonui, Kiwitahi, Te Puninga, Walton, Motumaoho and Tauhei School Committees, who advocated the establishment of a Manual Training Pchool at Morrinsvillc, the Mfnister stating that he would consider the matter during the next financial year. A deputation from Tauhei urged additions to the school, and pressed the matter of the erection of a teachers residence, the present teacher having had to live in all sorts of sheds. It was stated in this case that the matter was placed second upon the urgent list for the Auckland district. A deputation of Tatuonui farmers brought forward the trouble (already reported in the "Star") which is existing among the herds in that district, the Minister being impressed to the seriousness of the position, and promising to bring the matter under the notice of the Minister of Agriculture immediately upon his return to Wellington.
