ALLEGED MISAPPROPRIATION.
UNION SECRETARY CHARGED. A LARGE SUM INVOLVED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. R. D. Martin, ex-union secretary, was charged in Court to-day with the theft of £164 1/, £70 S/6, and £40 11/3, moneys of the Canterbury Bakers and Pastrycooks' Union. The police replying to counsel's statement that restitution had been made, said several other charges would be made before the case was gone on with. The affairs of four other unions had yet to be gone into. A remand was granted till Friday, hail being fixed at £200 and two sureties of £100 each. There is a possibility of the case going for trial at the coming session of the Supreme Court.
