THE RAILWAY STRIKE.

SIGNS OF BETTERMENT. N.U.R. GO BACK. LONDON, January 27. It is estimated that the Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen will disburse over £75,000 in strike pay to-day. While the peace negotiations are apparently at a deadlock, a number of National Union men who joined the strikers are returning to work in various places, notably at Hull, where 300 decided to resume after a five hours' meeting, the voting in favour of resumption being 122 to 37. Some members of the Associated Society are also said to be resuming.— (A. and N.Z. and Reuter.)
