The Government steamer Tutanekai is due back at Auckland this evening, and will berth at the Central wharf. The ketch Huanui w.ih shifted from the King's wharf this morning to the Western wharf. She is to load benzine for Gisborne. The Waihemo is due at Auckland at 4 p.ui to-day from Newcastle, and will bertli lifter medical inspection at the King's wharf. The Westmoreland will leave Auckland at ilayllght on Friday for Wellington to continue discharge of her cargo from Liverpool. WIXGATUI SAILS FRIDAY. lh** Union Compaov's steamer is expected to come down from Chelsea on Thursday and is to leave horo on Friday next for Southern ports. WATERSIDERS' HOLIDAY TOMORROW. To-morrow will be the watorsiders' annual holiday, and no work will he <lone on the wharves. At 9 a.m. the Kestrel will leave for Motutapu, followed by the Condor at 9.30 a.m. from the ferry tee. Accommodation will be available for 2230 picnickers, and it is expected to return to Auckland between G and G. 30 p.m. TAINUI LEAVES SOUTHAMPTON. The Arahura returned to Aucklaud yesterday afternoon, and berthed at the Queen's wharf shortly after 3 p.m.. having been delayed about 24 hours in her arrival by continued had weather. She loaves here at -1 p.m. to-day for Napier, via Tokomaru Bay and Gisborne. MOVEMENTS OP WARSHIPS. H.M.s. Chatham will leave Auckland on January 24 for exerclees with H.M. ships Laburnum and Veronica In the llanraki Gulf, proceeding about January -0 to Wellington. H.M. sloop Laburnum arrived at Auckland early this morning from Port Fltzroy, ami berthed at the Sheerlegs wharf. n.M. sloop Veronica returned to Auckland this morning from Whangaroa, and berthed at the Dock wharf. KETCH RIRA DAMAGED. The Nobel ketch Rlra, which arrived at Wellington on Sunday from Auckland, via Gisborne. was severely buffettcd in heavy weather during her passage from Gisborne. and had her starboard bulwarks 'midships smashed away. When the Rira left Auckland a fortnight ago she had a cargo of explosives. After a week out she was off Cape Palliser, and was then blown away down off Kaikoura. From then until her arrival at Wellington she had been knocking about off the coast, and three nights before making port heavy seas carried away the planking and stanchions of the starboard bulwarks.
