Poineare presented a programme of drastic financial reforms, including a 20 pet cent increase in taxation, and rigorous control of exchange dealings. He de elared there was nothing to justify th< recent panic. There had been no infla lion of currency since 1920. Refusing to reply to an interpellation regarding the scale of pensions. M. Pom cure demanded a vote of confidence ii the Government, which was carried bj 304 to 180.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.]
