THE NEWTON BURGLARY.
ANOTHER MAN ARRESTED. A REMAND GRANTED. In connection with the theft of 07 diamond rings from the premises of Mr. C. F. Norton, jeweller, of Karangahape Road, on January 8, Detective-Sergeant Issell, of Newton, and Detective O'Sullivan effected the arrest at 8.30 a.m. today of Charles Cox (30). it is understood that a large number of the rings were found in Cox's possession. These have been identified by Mr. Norton. Another man, Patrick Oun'n, 29, has already been arrested in connection with the burglary, and was yesterday further remanded to appear on January 24. Cox appeared in the Police Court this morning before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., when he was charged with breaking and entering the premises of Mr. Norton and stealing 67 diamond rings, of the value of £603 15/. t?h the application of Senior-Detective Hammond accused was remanded to appear again on January 24, when the charge against Gunn will be heard.
