The Ashburton "Guardian" learns from a trustworthy source that the city of Sydney's famoue Redfern Band, which is entered for the forthcoming New. Zealand championship contests at Christchurch and Palmerston North, will not now participate, 'having resolved to concentrate preparations for a probable visit to England to compete at the Empire Exhibition. Cancellation of the entry has not yet been officially announced by the New Zealand authorities. The alisence of the Redfern" Band will be widely regretted, and will rob the competitions of one of the most important features.
