OILFIELDS IN PERSIA.
INTERESTS OF BRITAIN. LONDON, January IS. It is understood that the Burma Oil Company has reopened proposals to acquire the Government's shares in the An"lo-Persian Company, after fusion with the Dutch Shell Company. It undertakes to meet the Admiralty's requirements if the Anglo-Persian company fails to do so. In reply to a question, in the House ot Commons, whether anything was done with a view to the sale of the Government holding of Anglo-Persian Oil Corporation shares, Mr. Neville Chamberlain said that 18 months ago a proposal to sell shares was reported on the recommendation of a Cabinet committee. Recently further proposals by various oil interests were submitted, but the Government had not had time to reach a final decision. It intended to refer the matter to a Cabinet committee.—Reutcr.
