THE WILL AND THE WAY
No. 40.—INDIVIDUAL AND COM
MTJNITY BENEFITS
Though the great purpose of the Publi.Trust Office is to safeguard the rights and interests of beneficiaries in private estates, the safe methods of investments of the funds have proved to be helpful to the country as a whole. For example, during the year ended 31st March, 182.1. the Public Trust Office lent £1,275,059 on rural properties. During that time also, the Public Trust Office advanced £905,877 to Borough Councils, Town Boards, County Councils. Harbonr Boards. Hospital and Charltnble Aid Boards, and Electric Power Boards. Thus the Public Trust Office has had, and is still having a very important function in helping Now Zealand to regain its prosperity. An institution which simultaneously assures individual and community benefits has a sound title to the goodwill which it has won in fifty years of efficient, faithful service.
