THE CONCLUDING DAY.
SHIEK WINS BIG RACE. | The Summer Meeting of the Auckland ; Trotting Club was concluded at Alexandra Park on Monday. The weather was beautiful, the course in splendid order, and there was a good attendance. The sum of £59,460 was put through tbe totalisator, against "£65,107 10/ for the corresponding day last year, a decrease of £5647 10/. The total for the meeting was £197,478, compared with £191,659 : 10/, an increase of £5118 10/. A Good Second Dividend. For the Tamaki Handicap, for which Even Song was the only scratching, Audex was made favourite, with Lady I Esma, Araby, Style, and Peter Dean'; selected as named. When the field reached the stewards' stand Merrimac; was showing tlie way to Jenny Wallace, Ngatira, and Great Applause. Along the ' back Araby took charge, followed by . Great Applause, Jenny Wallace, Battery : Bell, and Ngatira. Passing the stand : Great Applause was just in front of i Araby, Jenny Wallace, Big Ben, Tiri, and ; Battery Bell, all being close up. Along the back for the last time Battery Bell had assumed command from Great Applause and Araby. with Peter Dean moving up fast. The last-named was ] alongside Battery Bell entering the straight, and going 011 won by three- ' qunrters of a length from Battery Bell, who beat Anseline by a length and a half. Style being a neck further back. Then came Tiri, Wimmera King, Great Applause, Jenny Wallace, and Araby. Battery Bell paid a nice second dividend. Rock Allen Again. All started in tbe Park Handicap, Rock Allen being first choice, with the bracket j Darknite-Florrie Bingen, Master Councillor, Gold Flake, Red Star, and Directive next sought after. Gold Cast was the early pilot and led past tbe stand from Peter Scott, Logan Rothschild and Gold Flake. There was no alteration in the leaders during tbe first round, the order going out of the straight being Gold Cast, Peter Scott, ] Logan Rothschild, Gold Flake, Mulwaree, Master Councillor. Cute Lad. and Child Audubon. Along the back Gold Cast was still .in charge from Mulwaree, Logan Rothschild, ilastcr Councillor, Cute Lad, and Peter Scott, with Rock Allen moving up fast. Across the top Gold Cast held. his position, and came into the straight attended by Master Councillor, Cute Lad, Gold Flake, and Rock Allen. Once turned for home, Rock Allen put In his claim, and won by half a length from Cute Lad, who beat Gold Flake by a neck, with Master Councillor a neck away fourth. Then came Gold Cast. Mulwaree. Red Star, Logan Rothschild, Pearl Fisher, Peter Scott, Child Audubon, and Respect. Wild Pointer stood on the mark, and took no part in the event, while Florric Bingen pulled up during the race. The Big Event. First Carbine was tbe only refection from the President's Handicap. Ahuriri was the prime fancy, with Acron, Shiek, Linden and Willie Logan next in demand. Coldwater was the first to hit the front, and ho led from Kewpie, Peter Mac, Willie Logan, Steel Bell, Comedy Chief, and Moneymaker. Passing the: stand Coldwater was still in charge," with Peter Mac, Willie Logan, Comedy Chief, Kewpie, Moneymaker. Linden, Ahuriri. Steel Bell, Shiek, Blue Mountain King and Acron next. The backmarkers had made up a lot of ground by the end of the next round, but otherwise the order was unaltered as I they raced along the straight. Willie Logan was in charge as the field turned into the back stretch from Coldwater, Ahuriri, Shiek, Kewpie, Linden, and Acron. Across the top Shiek was up in second position, followed by Acron. Willie Logan was first into the straight, but Shiek then came through, and, drawing out. won by a length from Acron, who beat Linden by two lengths, with Bltie Mountain King a neck further back. Then came Steel Bell, Coldwater, Moneymaker, Kewpie, Ahuriri. Willie Logan and Comedy Chief. Peter Mac pulled up.
Double to Peter Dean. Stroller was tbe favourite for the New Year Handicap, for which all started. The bracket Napper and Peter Dean, Ivy Audubon, Rock Allen, and Haricot were next fancied. Promenade lost some ground at the start, nnd Amberite was first to show out from Golden Gate, Gratton Abbey, Haricot, and Nipper. Amberite continued to pilot the field till they went along the straight the second time, where Ivy Audubon took charge from Peter Dean, Golden Gate. Lena Patch, Stroller, and Amberite. Ivy Audubon led across the top from Peter Dean, which was almost on terms, with Stroller and Haricot next. Once into the straight Peter Dean went to tbe front, and won by a length from Haricot, which beat Stroller by a length and a-half. Then came Ivy Audubon, Amberite, Lena Patch. Wimmera King, and Nipper, with Promenade last. Stroller was inclined to leave his feet during the race.
Wairemana Wins. Rockaway was the favourite for the Telegraph Handicap, with Gold Flake, the bracket Johnny Golddust and Prize Pearl, Golden Hope, Prospect, and King Lear supported as named. Leewood and Rockaway were first to show out, and led past the stand from Gold Flake, Wairemana, Golden Hope, Bellova, and Johnny Golddust. Along tbe back Rockaway took charge from Leewood, Wairemana, and Gold Flake. Rockaway was first into the straight from Wairemana, Gold Flake, Johnny Golddust. Rockaway then tired, and Wairemana beat him home by a length and auuartcr. Gold Flake was third, threcqua'rtera of a length further back. Then came Johnny Golddust. Bellova, Dick Dillon, Golden Hope, Leewood, Trize Pearl, and Directive next. A Great Finish. Linden was tbe only withdrawal from the Onslow Handicap for which William the First carried about £50 more than Willie Logan, with All Bell, Sal Pointer, Argus and Lady Dunmore best backed of the others. Lady Dunmore dwelt on the mark and. Comedy Chief led into, the straight from Gold Girl, Dean Dillon, and Willie Logan. Going past the stand the pilots were the same with Sal Pointer and Willie Logan next, while Acron had made up a "ood deal of ground. Comedy Chief landed into the straight just ahead of Sal Pointer. All Beli, Gold Girl and Acron. A great finish resulted in Sal Pointer getting up to win by a head from Gold Girl, who .beat' All Bell by a similar margin, while Acron was a head
further back fourth. Comedy Chief was next and then came Lady Dunmore, Moneymaker, First Cartbine and Man. o' War.-
A Dead Heat. There Was only one defection for the Association Trot Handicap, Aerial Bingen failing to keep his engagement. Lady Nan was made a hot favourite with Marion Style, Sunny Jim, Deviilc Wood and Peter Swift next in request. Bundaberg was the first to become prominent, but Lady Nan quickly assumed command and going past the stand led from Bundaberg, Peter Swift, Delville Wood, Sunny Jim, The Squire, Mutu, Sebisca and Marion Style. In the next circuit Lady Nan was in charge from Peter Swift, Delville Wood, Bundaberg, and Mutu. This order was unaltered as they entered tbe straight for the last time. Peter Swift then ran up to Lady Nan and a good race to the judge l-lided in a dead beat between the pair, with ' Bundaberg two and a-half lengths away, followed by Delville Wood, Pyramus, The Squire, Sunny Jim, Sebisca and Marion Style. The Final Event.
Mulwaree was the only one that failed to start in the Premier Handicap. Flor 'ie Bingen was the first fancy, with Lenglen, Brendo and Profiteer next sought after. Conscript and Florrie Eingen were the first out and they were attended by Brendo and La Fayette. Passing the stand tbe order was Conscript, Florrie Bingen, Brendo, and Lenglen. Florrie Bingen drew out from Lenglen along tbe back and showed the way into the straight to Lenglen, and Harold Junior. Florrie Bingen easily held her own and won by a length and a-half from Harold Junior, who beat Lenglen by a similar distance. Two lengths further back came Logan Queen followed by Her Ladyship, Profiteer, La Fayette and Conscript.
