AUCKLAND RACING CLUB.

THE THIRD DAY. ROSEDAY -WINS HANDICAP. JOCKEY KILLED IN HURDLE RACE. The Auckland Racing Club's Summer Meeting was continued yesterday in beautiful weather. The course and grounds were in excellent order, and there was a largo attendance, including tbe Governor-General, Lord Jellicoe.

A fatal accident occurred in the New Year Hurdle Race, Peter Amans falling along the back, his rider, M. D. O'Shea, receiving injuries from which lie died shortly afterwards. The* sum of £110,001 was handled by the totalisator, an increase of £11,809 compared with the corresponding day at the previous summer meeting. This made the total so far for the meeting £318,263 \f/, an increase of £1G,412 10/. A Close Finish. Maria of Hereford was made a very warm favourite for the Ferguson Handicap, with which proceedings commenced, carrying over £1000 more than Charlady, with Highflown the only other one to be backed to the extent of fouv figures. Major Abbey, Kuhio, and Charlady were tbe first out, but at the bend Kuhio had run to the front, only to he displaced by Maria of Hereford a little further on, with Sunny Roe, Charlady, Major Abbey, and Hjghflown next. Maria of Hereford was first into the straight from Charlady, Highflown, Major Abbey, and Sunny Roc. At the distance Charlady and Highflown both came at the leader, and in a fine finish Charlady got up in time to win by a head from Maria of Hereford and Highflown, who dead-heated for second place. Then came Desert Glow, Kuhio, Sunny Roe, Drawbridge, Blackeyed Susan, and Wyoming. Four Horses Fall. Battlee Song, Mia Bella and Penona were scratched for the New Year Hurdle Race, Explorer being made favourite was over £1000 better backed than Pine Arch; while Peter Amans, Miss Melva, Snake and Sea De'il were most sought after of the others. Prince Rufus was the first to show oiit, followed by Sea De'il, Miss Melva, Pine Arch, Waikawa and Peter Amans. Pine Arch ran up second a little later, with Sea De'il and Active next. Going past the stand Waikawa had charge from Explorer, Miss Melva, Prince Rufus, Snake, Active, Sea De'il, Peter Amans, Luperino and Pittsworth, the field being well bunched. Miss Melva was in front along the back, with Snake, Sea De'il, Pine Arch, Active following, Explorer and Peter Amanes falling. Pine Arch, Miss Melva and Snake came into the straight together just in front of Active, with Sea De'il next. Snake fell at the last hurdle, and Miss Melva drew out from Pine Arch at the distance, with Active, Sea De'il and Luperino next. About fifteen y-rds from the post Pine Arch stumbled and fell, and Miss Melva won by three lengths from Active, who beat Sea Dt'il by a neck. Then came Luperino, Prince Rufus and Pittsworth.

When Peter Amans fell M. D. O'Shea, bis rider, received such injuries that lie succumbed on the course. He was a very popular young fellow, and his chief successes were on Poanui in the Great Northern and Century Hurdle Races. An Outsider Scores. Voltarc was the only -withdrawal from the Midsummer Handicap, for which Quinette was first pick, -with Son o* Mine, Day Guard, Tanadees, Gold Fern, Hoariri and Royal Diadem next best backed. Son o' Mine, Day Guard and Quinette- were the first to show out, hut crossing the top Day Guard had assumed charge from Tanadees, Master Doon, Quinette, Son o' Mine and Royal Diadem. Day Guard, Tanadees and Master Doon were almost in a line as they turned for home, with Quinette, Son o' Mine and Royal Diadem handy. Royal Diadem then put in his claim arid got up to win under the judge's ■box by two lengths from Tanadees, who beat Quinette by a head. Day Guard was fourth. Then came Master Doon, Son o' Mine, Gold Fern and Hoariri. The winner returned double figures. The Derby. Suggestion carried albout £200 more in the Great Northern Derby for which Gold Rain, Pelham, Soliform and Wild Hind were scratched. Razzle Dazzle, Tarleton and Queen March were supported as named. At the start Miss Egypt and Razzle Dazzle went to the front from Queen March and Suggestion. Passing the stand the order was Miss Egypt and Razzle Dazzle together, White Comet, Suggestion, Queen March, Ballymena, Pompey, and Tarleton. Razzle Dazzle drew out along the back from Miss Egypt who was followed by Suggestion, Queen March, Ballymena, Pompey and Tarleton. Across the top Razzle Dazzle was well out in front with Miss Egypt, Suggestion, Ballymena, Pompey, Queen March and Tarleton next. Razzle Dazzle was first into the straight from Ballymena, Queen March, Suggestion and Tarleton, but in the run home Ballymena took charge and won by two lengths from Razzle Dazzle, who beat Tarleton, who finished fast, by a neck. Suggestion was fourth, and then came Queen March and White Comet with Miss Egypt and Pompey well back.

Parody's Second Win. All started for the Newmarket Handicap for which Royal Blood carried over £500 more than Parody, with Lady Ridicule and Prince Abbey the next best backed. When the field settled down Rnelli was in front from Prince Abbey. Finelli led across the top from Prince Abbey, Golden Bubble, Pavo and Hipo. Finelli was first into tbe straight followed by Prince Abbey, Pavo, Hipo and Golden Bubble, with Parody coming fast on the rails. The last-named drew ahead and beat Royal Blood by a length, with Pavo three-quarters of a length further back. Finelli was fourth, followed' by LandsKJc, J-.a<ly Itidicule, Prince A.l>bey., Hipo and King Cheops. Roseway Wins Well. The whole of the acceptors went to the post for the Auckland Racing Club Handicap. The bracket Enthusiasm and Demand was made favourite, with Roseday, Boomerday, Te Kara, Muraahi, llusketoon, Scion, Tinohoro and Surveyor next. Te Kara caused some delay at the post, but eventually the field was sent away to a good start. Tinokaha ■was in front when they reached the straight from Boomerday, Te Kara and Tinohoro, Tinokaha led past the stJlnd followed by Roseday, Boomerdav, Tinoaioro, Surveyor, Te Kara, Demand, Musketoon Enthusiasm, Scion, Muraahi and Glen Canny. Along the back J.inokaha had drawn well out from Boomerday, who was followed by Tinohoro, Roseday, Surveyor, Te Kara,

Musketoon, Demand, Enthusiasm and Glen Canny. Tinokaha piloted the field across the top from Tinohoro, Boomerdaj', Roscday, Te Kara, Surveyor, Demand and Enthusiasm. Tinohoro was first into the straight with Roseday, Te Kara, Musketoon and Surveyor next. Koscday drew out at the distance and was immediately challenged by Surveyor, hut Ro'seday went an ay again and won by two lengths and a half. Musketoon came fast over the last bit and got third, a neck away. Tinohoro was fourth and and then came Demand, Enthusiasm, Te Kara, Boomerday, Stork, Scion, Muraahi and Glen Canny. A Bracket First and Second. Aerofortis was favourite for the Ellerslie Handicap, with Thunderclap, Para, Farndon and the bracket Prettyman and Bay Dighton next in demand. Prettyman and Sentinella were first out, but Sentinella soon ran to the front followed by Prettyman, Para, Formalin and Aerofortis. Turning into the straight Sentinella was still in charge from Prettyman, Para, Miss Vera, Aerofortis, Formalin and Barometer. At the distance Prettyman and Bay Dighton Tanged alongside Sentinella, and a good race saw Prettyman beat his stable companion Bay Dighton by half a head, with Sentinella half a length further hack. Then came Golden Glass, Thunderclap. Steel Bar, Aerofortis and Pebble 11. The Concluding Event. Hipo was the only defection from the Glasgow Handicap, for which Bretland was favourite, with Alfort, Cool Stimulants and Tactful next sought after. Cool Stimulants, Tactful and Amiform were the leaders along the back, followed by Amiform, Namutere and Archie. At the bend Cool Stimulants, Tactful and Amiform were together in front of Archie, Namutere, Gold Bud and Alfort. Tactful was first into" the straight from Cool Stimulants, Amiform, Alfort and Gold Bud, but in the run home Tactful drew ahead, and stalling off a challenge by Archie won by half a length, with Gold Bud a neck away third.
