PARIS OLYMPIAD.
THE BRITISH EMPIRE TEAM. LONDON, December 16. The annual report of the British Olympia Association states that he French Committee recently decided to build an Olympic village adjacent to the Stadium, for housing athletes. The association agreed to support the scheme if found sound and practical. The Dominions also expressed a desire to participate. When, however, the Housing Committee realised the number of leading countries, it decided to accommodate the athletes in hotels aud chateaux, also that the French committee was not making itself responsible for building a village. It was decided to abandon the scheme accordingly. Excellent accommodation was found. The association had also written to the Dominions offering to do everything in its power to assist in findingaccommodation. The report adds that the Dominions heartily agreed to the proposal that the Mother Country and the Dominions enter the Stadium on the opening day as one great empire team, even if they have subsequently to compete as separate nations. Widespread surprise has been expressed that Lawton, the New South Wales footballer, has been passed, over in favour of Kittermaster for the English Rugby trials. The only explanation that can be given is that the selectors are taking a long view, as Lawton will be returning in due course to Australia, while Kittermaster will be available to England for gome years to come.—(A. and N.Z.
