— _ WEST AITCKLAHD CLUB. The West Auckland Flying Club flew their old bird championship on Saturday from Wellington. The birds were liberated by Mr. Hoare. the stationmagter, at. 6 a.m.. and after a ten and a-half hours' fly the winner turned up in Mr. E. Mavall's m c Snringbok 111., -with a velocity 0f"853 yards per minute. This good bird also won the ■ Christcliurch race, and has proved a champion for Mr. Mayall this season. Results: E. The Onehunga Racing Pigeon Club held their, old bird championship from Johnsonville (an air-line distance of 300 miles) on Saturday. The birds were liberated at 5.3 a.m., and, the winner homed at 3.20 p.m. The winner -turned up In Mr. H. Burridge's nice black cock Liberty, the bird being bred by himself. The Northern Racing Pigeon Club concluded its 1923 old bird season on Saturday, with a race from Chrlstchurch, a distance of 500 miles. Mr. Nello Porter sent five birds, got them all home ou the day, and won by nearly an hour with his b c c Lord Kenllworth, 1047 yds; blk c Passing Cloud, 1047yd8; and b c Sola Ray, 1037 yds, the lirst, second and third prires, also the silver cup donated by Warwick Savage, Esq.. of England, in memory fo the late Dr. Savage, who was an enthusiastic pigeon racer. The only other arrivals on the day were Messrs. Watson Bros.' famous old champions—still going strong— b c h Progress, !)83yds, and r h New York, 980 yds. The former has flown from Chrlstchurch sit times, and the latter four times. AUCKLAND CLUB. The Auckland Racing Pigeon Club flew a race from Chrlstchurch, this proving to be the hardest race of the season, only one l>ivd homing In race time. The whining iiirrl was the property of Mr. I. Coster. This bird, although only a yearling, has flmvn from Chrlstchurch twice this season. The following is the result: — Mr. I. Coster's r c c King Elgin, 563 yds per minute 1 Til? Auckland Racing Pigeon Club held i yearling race from Palmers! on North today, an airline distance of 246 miles. Mr. tt"addell. sen., presented a gold medal to (lie winner.
