Coleman's stable, which will race as Don Rosa, was schooled over the pony hurdles at Ellerslie on Thursday in company with Royal- Fame. Polini. which was started three times at Tauranga, was taken to Taumarunui. and was saddled up on a similar number of occasions, finishing third twice. Daylight ran disappointingly at Taumarunui, after the promi.fing form he showed when he won at the Walkato Hunt Club's meeting. The Carl Rosa gelding in .1. Irwin's charge was schooled over hurdles at Ellerslie on Thursday morning, and gave a satisfactory display. Arch Opal, which was made ravourite ror the owhanga Hack Handicap at Taumarunui, never really nattered his supporters, though ho actually llnlshed rourth. Lady Lois and Princess Rell. W. Donaldson's pair, which are to compete at Taranaki meetings at Christmas time, leave for New Plymouth by steamer from Onehunga on Monday. l Regent was close up in the Flying Handicap at Taumarunui till the turn, but be was on the day no match lor Tinokaha and Hipo in the run home, while Some Fashion defeated him ror third honours. There was apparently no fluke about Tinokaha's Cup victory at Taumarunui. ror later in the day he proved capable or defeating some . fair sprinters in the. Flying Handicap, including Hipo and Regent. Le'Cheval, a three-year-old gelding by LuctiUus—Lady Dot, In F. J. Daniels' stable at Avondaie, - rather resembles his dam. He was a starter in a hack event at Taumarunui, but ran somewhat greenly. and finished last. Nevertheless he looks a likely sort. ] Ngahinepourl. which-ran second in tbe bundle event at Taumarunui, Is a six-year-old gelding toy Aberbrothock—Lady Frisco. He showed sumcient pace to indicate- that he. "may he ' heard of again. He jumped well/and was only beaten a neck by Bright Light. | Arizona Maid's victory at Taumarunui was long overdue. This mare has been racing consistently without Collecting the principal portion-of the stake. She had. however, to do her.best to defeat Irene Bruce on Wednesday, only a bead separat- j ing them at the finish. Arch Ami. which returned a big divi- j dend when she finished second to Dancing Doll at Takapuna. is now in charge or A. Robertson, ft is understood she was temporarily under the care or W. Tozer. owing to Robertson having no accommodation for her. 1 Bright Lieut's success at Taumarunui was the first scored over hurdles by the son or Charlemagne 11. He has plenty or pace, for he was actually last at one stage, or the race. He is an indifferent Tencer, and made a very raulty jump at the last obstacle, but his speed enabled him to win by a neck. ! Blark Cruiser was made a good ravour- ! Ite for the Maticre Handicap at Taumarunui. and he rully justified the confidence reposed in him by winning the event. Black Cruiser has been racing most consistently this season, and when lt came, to the business end on Wednesday he had no difficulty in outpacing the others. Dorinda was running on particularly ! well at the finish or the Owhanga Hack Handicap at Taumarunui on Wednesday and it looked as though, ir she. had been made more use or in the earlier stages or the race, she might have dereated both Arizona Maid and Irene Bruce, which were conceding the daughter or Finland a rew pounds in weight. Major Abbey, one of R. Hannon's team, was expected to do better at Taumarunui than be actually did, but possibly the track was not to his liking. However, he should improve later on. When racing well vi) to Vaccination, which was leading in the Trial Plate, Royal Bonus rell and somewhat Interfered with Major Abbey's prospects. Major Abbey was at that time handy to the leaders. Vaccination, which won a double at Taumarunui, is a Ally by Arcliiestown— Mangamalre. She started on half, a dozen occasions last season, but was only placed j once—when she ran third to Florent and Sussex in the Vauxhall Handicap at tbe Takapuna Spring Meeting in 1922. It is stated that her connections bone-ted to some extent as the result of ber victories on Wednesday, ror she returned v good price on each occasion. Knighton, which won Hie Taringamotu Hack Race at Taumarunui. is on« or G. Reid's team at Te Awamutu, and was only seventh in the order or selection. Last season he started twice, and was unplaced on each occasion. The manner in which he won on Wednesday augurs well ror bis prospects when sent to Taranaki. Reid is taking a team of ftvo to compete at New Plymouth and Strafford, including the English-bred Lapidary. Knighton. Town Bank, and Arebeen. Reid"s charges will probably race at the Foxton, Egmont. and Taranaki Cup meetings before returning:.

Reports rrom Hawke's Bay state that Rapine met with some injuries recently I while running in a paddock at N'gatarawa. i This apparently accounts ror his with- : drawal rrom the Auckland Cup. The form of St. Waipa and Lady Hill in ihe hack hurdles at Taumarunui must have been disappointing to their supI porters. Neither looked like winning Hie event at any stage. Loved One was saddled up at Taumarunui In a back event, but never really nattered his supporter?. Prior lo this meeting this gelding was responsible ror a fair track sprint at Ellerslie. Over There (the roll brother to Gazique). formerly trained by Mr. C. Pine, who rode the winner of Hie principal race each day at Woodvllle. was offered the lightweight riding in .(.:. T. Godby's Victorian stable, but his rather, to whom I he is apprenticed, rerused to let him go. I The. supporters of Stork must have Telt on good terms with themselves Just prior to the Held in the Tauinarunui Cup reaching the borne turn. Tor be was making some headway up to tbat point. He. however, railed just when expected to go on, and was beaten into third place. '■ Last season Mr. W. O. Stead sent bis imported mare Shrill over to New South . Roomerdav was unfortunate in striking a lightly weighted one like Tinokaha at his best. Maria of Hereford was made a warm favourite ror the Maiden Plate at DanneI virke on Wednesday, but bad to be ridden : out to beat liehorah- by hall" a length, i The filly ran third at Woodvllle. and ber I performance at riannevlrke appears to have been impressive. , Mr. A. McDonald's two-year-old I'lllochra Is reported to have, done well .Mnce |be raced at ntccarion, says a Southern writer. lie has furnished quite a lot. in - a short time, "md now might easily pass !as a three-year-old Instead or a year l younger. He can be. ticked off as a Derby ; possibility ror next s*_asc.i. I Lady isinglass, the full sister to I Rational and The Monk, was backed down to a very short price In the Juvenile Handicap at Uannevlrke, a ralr amount of money going on Bon March. The favourite was v-'ry fractious at the barrier, and Just prior to the star! she reared and fell. She began smartly, however, and led all the way. winning by a length from Bon March, which ran fairly well. The third horse.
