Mr. .T. Sealhy loft for Rotorua by the express this morning. Dr. J. Campbell, of Whangaroi, is at present staying at the Central Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. (i. W. Allsop. of Auckland, left yesterday on a motoring trip to Mt. Cook and tlic South Island lakes. Mr. and Mrs. R. MeCully. of Mangonui, arrived in Auckland this morning. They are staving at the Central Hotel. Colonel J. 0. Prior, and Messrs T. M. Burke, P. Helps and L. Yonna were passengers for Sydney by the Marama yesterday. Mr. T. Tuekey, who has been staying at the Grand Hotel, loft Auckland for Rotorua. by motor rar this morning. Mr. C. Dennis, of Wellington, Mr. B. Wilson, of Christehurch. and Mr. and Mrs. G. Ring, of Hinucra. are among the guests staying at the Star Hotel. Mr. A. P. Bennett, Principal of the Staff Division, Oeneral P. 0., Wellington, arrived in Auckland this morning. He is staying at the Central Hotel. Inspector C. R. Broberjj, of the Police Commissioner's Office, Wellington, lias been promoted to the rank of superintendent. He will remain in Wellington on the staff of the commissioner. Mr. Leonard Mills (Wellington). Mr. E. Parker (Sydney), Mr. ('.. Bullow (Sydney), and Mr. E. Strain (Dunedin), arrived in Auckland this morning, and are staying at the Grand Hotel. Mr. W. H. D. Bennett, manager of the Wellington Co-operative Waterside Labour Employment Association, has returned to Wellington after a h'vemontlia' holiday in Melbourne. The following names appear on the register of the Central Hotel:—Messrs. R. M. Brewer (Wellington), H. Beyers (Xapier), (!. Cathie (Melbourne), and H. Hood (Wangamii). Mr. .T. H. Richardson, retired Government insurance commissioner, has been appointed to the Discharged Soldiers' Dominion Revaluation Board, under authority given by section 2."> of the Finance Act, 1923, which vested in the Government power to appoint Mr. Richardson to any board controlling public moneys.

Mr. I'red T. Russell, who is leaving the Northern Boot Co. to enter into partnership with Messrs. Clark and Co., was recently presented with a cheque from the directors, and a set of pipes and a case of silver-mounted brushes from tlie employees. Mr. Russell was with the firm for 40 years.
