Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Edwards, of Sydney, arc at present staying at the Grand Hotel.
Mr. and Mrs. Merriken, who have been on a visit to- this city, returned to Morrinsville this morning.
Mr. Davidson, foreman at Taurango, has been appointed borough foreman and traffic inspector at Korthcote.
Mr. B. Dyson, (Wellington), Mr. H. Merry (Sydney), and Mr. J. Broadfoot (Tc Kuiti), are staying at the Star Hotel.
Mr. T. Bailey, a former resident of Auckland, - has been Appointed bandmaster of the First Battalion, Otago, Regimental Band.
Messrs. O. R. Bendall. J. Tucker and N. A. Carr, of Wellington, arrived in Auckland this morning and arc staying at the Grand Hotel.
Mr. and Mrs. R. Spackman, of Napier, who' are well-known in musical circles; throughout New Zealand, are at present, on jt. r viiit to Auckland. They ai-e staying' at the Central Hotel.
Sir John and Lady Randies accompanied by Dr. R. K. B. Crawford, will leave toy the Tofua to-night on a visit to the Islands. On returning to the Dominion, they will complete their tour of New Zealand.' "
Mr. 8. S. A burn, bridge overseer of the Puiblic Works' Department, Dunedin, has been transferred to Marlborough district, whore he will rebuild a large bridge over the Clarence River. The 'bridge was destroyed by the flood in May last.
The Grand Hotel was the scene of a pleasant function recently, when Messrs. VV. Coltman (president), and Geo. W. Hutchison (secretary), were entertained at dinner by the Council cf the Auckland Automobile Association, In wishing the guests bon voyage, Mr. J. A. Warnock, who presided at the gathering, referred to their splendid worth as citizens, "and to their untiring zeal in the affairs of the association. Messrs. Coltman and Hutchison were eacii presented with a valuable colonial rug.
Major-General G. S. Richardson, Administrator of Western Samoa, will leave Auckland by the Tofua to-night on his return to Apia. During his stay in Auckland General Richardson conferred with representatives of the New Zealfind Government in. respect to certain important administrative questions of policy. On returning to Samoa, tfie official report of the conference will be submitted to the local i Administrative Council. An interested visitor to New Zealand with the Administrator was Mr. K. Tuuu, the official interpreter to the Administration. He was connected with heaaquarters in Samoa in 1913 at the time 'of the German regime, and later transferred his services to the New Zealand Administration. Before leaving to-day he expressed his appreciation of the kindness, of the V.M.C.A. anu Government officials who showed him a little of the world on His first voyage beyond Samoa.
