TOTAL OF 4805 REGISTERED.

Official statistics shovr that up to the middle of September, 4895 apiaries were registered by the Department of Agriculture. The amount of honey and beeswax produced during the year ending May 31 last was 2,930,0371b and 60,20(51b respectively. Of the total of 76,573 hives, 26,811 contained Italian bees, 18,573 black, and 31,189 crossbred.

The numbers of registered apiaries in land districts are: North Auckland, 690; Auckland, 539; Gisborne, 89; Hawke's Bay, 170; Taranaki, 325; Wellington, 639; Nelson, 254; Alarlborough, 90; Weetland, 113: Canterbury," 829; Otagb, 812; Southland, 340. ♦ The report states that, many email apiaries have not been registered, as 8426 householders were shown by the census of 1921 as keeping bees.
