WAIKINO TRAGEDY.
HIGGINS REMANDED TO PAEROA. PRELIMINARY HEARING FRIDAY. Charged with the murder of two boys at Waikino Public School on October-19, John Higgins, aged 57, again appeared before the magistrate at "the Police Court this morning handcuffed and the very picture of dejection. Spectacles gave Higgins a mild, surprised appearance; and the gyves on the wrists seemed scarcely necessary. SeniorSergeant Rawle asked for a remand till Friday next, at Paeroa, and this was granted. On inquiring "What time?", his counsel, Mr. J. J. Sullivan, was informed that the hour set was 9 a.m.
