MOTOR LORRY CAPSIZED.

FALLS OVER A CLIFF.

DRIVER'S WONDERFUL ESCAPE

(By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.)

CAMBRIDGE, this day.

On Saturday afternoon a motor lorry belonging to "the works at Horahora, driven by a man named Burnett, with a passenger, after coming down the gully hill, near Pemberton's farm, atopped, after apparently striking a rut in the road. The lorry twisted round' sideways, with the back of the lorry close to the edge of the road, which, has on one side a straight drop down the cliff of about 30 feet. When the motor was again started the gears must have been reversed, for the motor instantly backed over the cliff, landing upside down. The driver was pinioned underneath the lorry, whilst the surprised passenger was left standing where he had cranked the lorry. The driver had a miraculous escape from being killed. He was extricated from the upturned lorry by a party of Cambridge tennis enthusiasts who were ■ motoring to Horahora. Burnett, except for a few abrasions and minor cuts, was unhurt, whilst the only damage sustained by the lorry was a broken wheel. The lorry was able to proceed with its own power after T>eing got out of the gully.
