TAX ON FRUIT.
PROTEST BY BUYERS. LONDON, Novemhet 30. The "Daily Chronicle" states that 300 wholesale fruit buyers of Liverpool protested to the Government against the tax of 5/ per cwt on foreign apples. They state that it is impossible for producers in the Dominions and at Home to supply the demand for another 10 years. The duty will curtail American supplies and cause an increase in prices.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
