Donald Ltd., was a passenger by the Niagara from Sydney. Mr. end Mrs. R. C. Buchanan, of Sydney, are amongst the guests staying at the Grand. Mesere. J. J. Russell, H. G. Young, and A. Wilcock, *11 of U.S.A. are at present in Auckland. Dr. E. l>. Morgan, the organiser for the Red Cross Society, is at present on a visit to Taranaki. Mr. Alhert Spencer, president of the Auckland Employers' Association, left Auckland for Wellington last week. Mr. and Mrs. A. S. F.eid, *nd Mlse Roirf, of Takapuna, returned to Auckland from Sydney bythe Niagara this morning. Mr. T. W. Tuckey of China, Mr. E. Daries, ef Manchester, and Mr. A- Wilson, of Sheffield, are all at the Grand Hotel. Mr. A. Jolly, general manager of the National Bank of New Zealand, accompanied, by Mrs. Jolly, are on a visit to Sydney. Mr. and Mrs. T. S. Williarne, and Mr. C. K. Williams, of Tokomaru Bay, arrived in this city yesterday, and are at the Grand Hotel. Messrs. G. H. Scott, T. W. Rapley and G. Springhall, of Wellington, and S. Kirkpa trick, of Nelson, axe staying at the ■ Grand Hotel. Professor and Mr 3. J. Cos9ar Ewart, of .Edinburgh, arrived in Auckland yesterday morning .and left for Rotorua uv t»t express this morning. Colonel J. Bclaier, D.5.0., representative ot the Cer.ndian Pacific Railways, arrived by the Niagara and will be in New Zealand; for some time, going as far south eg. Dunedin. Rev. Dr. E. Merrington, who arrived by the Niagara, goes on to Dunedin, having a«epted a call from St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in Brisbane, to a Preebvterian Church in Dunediu. Messrs. D. Gadsby. A - McDougaU, W. J. Gunning, of .Sydney, and Messrs. H. B. Pope end T. Baeniziger, <A Melbourne, arrived in Auckland by the Niagara this morning and are staying at the Grand Hotel. Messrs. S. W. House and F. Keareiey, who were nominated by the Manukau County Council to inspect the modern bituminous roads in Wanganui and Taranaki, left Auckland for that purpose last evening. Captain A. V. Hale-Munro, traffic manager fer the Wellington Harbour Board, .who has been en a six weeks' visit to Sydney and Melbourne, arrived in Auckland this morning, and will ieavc for the South this evening. Mr. Karl de G. MacVitty, American Consul for Auckland, vaa a passenger by the iiain Trunk express which arrived here yesterday morning. Mr. MacVitty has b*en on «. visit te America, and has been absent from the Dominion ifor some five months. The acting-consul, ilr. A. R. Preston, will leave for Srdney by the Marama on Friday. The Right Hon. Sir Edwin Cornwall arrived in Wellington from London !*>t week. He ie spending a holiday in the Dominion after 38 years" political j life in the House of Commons, -where be has 'been Chaorman of Ways and Means for the last five years." Mr. Cornwall has teen the Coalition Liberal membrr for Bethnml Green since 1906. the Deputy-Speaker of the House of Common* iince 1919, and was the Chief Whip of the Progressive party for eisht years. He held the portfolio of National Health Insurance from 1916-19, and has held office on the London County Council (chairman 1905-6). Port of London Authority, and FrancoBritish Inter-Parliamentary Committee. Mr. Cornwall expects to remain in New Zealand for several weeks.
