With the idea of arriving at a satisfactory arrangement of tills rather complicated problem a meeting was held in the Methodist Hall last Friday evening. to hear the views.of all concerned. Mr. S. Evans, manager of the Farmers' U.nion, occupied the chair. After considerable discussion it was decided to recommend that Saturday be observed as the statutory halfholiday (greengrocers and confectioners excepted). Two confectioners, however, are applying for the necessary permission' to close on Wednesday half-day and open all day Saturday. At the close of the meot j ing it was suggested mat the tradespeople of Papakura form themselves into a body. With this end In view it was proposed that a" Tradesmen's Association be foirmed in Papakura, and this was carried unanimously. The first meeting will be announced shortly. • ■••• ■
