SALE OF MEDICATED WINE.
«. RISKS OF PROSECUTION. . (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDEST, Friday. -At the Police Court to-day William Michael Wilkinson pleaded not guilty to selling a bottle, of Hall's wipe without a license. It was stated that some •wine seized by the police, contained over 10 per cent proof spirit. The police contended that a man wlio was not a. registered chemist had no right to sell the wine. The defence contended that there was nothing in the Licensing Act that made it illegal for a chemist, qualified or otherwise, to sell Hall's wine. The defendant, who admitted that lie was unregistered, said that he gold medicated wine for medicinal purposes, and counsel quoted a decision in an earlier. case to the effect that.it was not' illegal:- to- sell medicated w.me, so long as the seller -was satisfied that'the purchaser was buying it for medkinal purposes. The magistrate reserved /his decision.
