WAIHI IMPRESSES VISITOR. (By Telegraph.—Own 'Correspondent.! WAIHI, this day. Amongst the visitors to Waihi OB Thursday was Mr. H. F. Marriott, at one time president of the Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, London. Mr. Marriott, who was delegate of the Britisli Government at the Pan-Pacific Science Congress in Australia, is going through the whole of the British Dominions, with a view to the formation of an Empire council of mining institutions and societies. In company with the superintendent he went over the Waikhio battery plant, and was shown through a portion of the underground workings of the Waihi mine. Mr. Marriott expressed surprise at the size of tho lodes and the masmiture of the mine working?. The visitor left by yesterday morning's train for Rotorua, and on Tuesday next he sails for Canada.
