MAMAKU BUSH ROAD.
CONDITION DUE TO TOURIST TRAFFIC. Some weeks ajto the Am-klaiicl Automobile Association wrote to the Mataraata County Council drawing attention to the state of portion of tlie Maniaku Bush Road. In a letter received from the Comity Council members of the. association were informed that the through traffic (mostly tourists, and largely members of the Automobile Association visiting Rotorim i had lieen responsible for making the road in the state it was in. It was also pointed out that the association benefited but did m>t contribute towards the upkeep of the road, and suggested the association should be prepared to subsidise the work and incidentally help the council by adding to the limited funds available for work on the Mamaku Bush Road. At a meeting of the council of the Auckland Automobile Association la.— evening it was resolved to ask the Government to make a grant to the county council free of the condition of the raising of a country contribution, or to permit a reduction in the amount of the contribution.
