EXHIBITION SUBSIDY.
MANUFACTURERS' ATTITUDE. (By Tolegrapii.—rress Association.! DUXEDIN, Tuesday. At a meeting of the Manufacturers' Association to-night the action of the presidents of the Christchurch, Wellington, and Auckland Associations in waiting on the Prime Minister to protest against a subsidy being given to the Dunedin exhibition was discussed. A motion that the Dunedin Association cancel its affiliation witn the industrial corporation was finally lost, and an amendment carried that the association defer doing anything in the matter for one month. The secretary read the letter forwarded by the association to the industrial corporation regarding the protest by the Dunedin Association against the imposition of a duty on bottles, and also the reply from thp industrial corporation in which the Dunedin association was practically requpsted to reflections made therein. The local association, however, unanimously declined to withdraw the letter.
