AUSTRALASIAN CABLEGRAMS.
SYDNEY, this day. Senator W. T,. Duncnn complains that the Pacific Cable Board, instead of devoting its profits t.> a remission of excessive charges, from which the commercial community and Press are suffering, has again allocated them to increasing an already ample reserve fund, and redemption of its capital. He adds that the Board admits its financial position warrants a reduction, but it fears the increased trafiie consequent on it would cause congestion on the cable, which is already working to its full capacity. 31 r. Duncan surest* that these fears could bo allayed either by a complete duplication of the cable .between Fiji and Canada, or proceeding with the Board's proposal for wireless communication between those countries. — (A. and X.Z.)
