Lee made a statement outlining drastic economies to cope with the serious financial position. Adult education through tutorial classes would be abolished, and fees be charged in high schools. The Commonwealth would be asked to take over the shipping service, and the AgentGeneral would be abolished. The Commonwealth "ill be asked to bouse the Agent-General's secretary in Australia House on payment of £1000 a year. He will look after Tasnianian interests. It is also proposed to reduce the members of the Assembly from 30 to 2.->. and the Council from IS to 1">. It is also proposed to increase income, company, and land taxation. Sir. Lyons. Leader of the Opposition, gave notice of a no-confidence motion, gave notice of a no-conlidence motion.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
