NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION.
—■ —■ ~_ FREEDOM OP EXPENDITURE. WKLLTNCITON, this day. That the National Rifle Association should be allowed a greater degree of freedom in regard to expenditure of its grant of £2400 was the request of a deputation which waited on Sir F. I>. Bell to-day. Sir Francis said ho would bring the matter before Cabinet, but the difficulty was that the Defence vote was one which could not be swollen. Members of Parliament would realise the difficulty in keeping the Defence vote down in view of defects. In regard to the present system the Minister for Defence was not unsympathetic, but he could make no promise. What the association | really said was, We get more «ammuniI tion than we want, and we ask that the difference be paid to us in cash." He would se e what could be done.
