SAILER'S RECORD TRIP.
TSABEL'S 25 DAYS' RUN". A record round trip of 25 days 7 hours to Nine Island was completed tliis morning by the Scales barrruenttne Ysabel, which arrived at 4 a.m. The Ysabel is probably the oldest sailing ship at Auckland now maintaining a regular service. She was built in 1874. and was formerly known as the Southern Cross. Her recent trip is 3t> hour? faster than her previous best, which was made in the autumn. The narquentine sailed from A nek ia ml at 10.30 a.m. on the 16th August, and . carried favourable westerly and ■ southerly winds to the island, arriving ; there on the _st!i. She left again for Auckland at ii p.m.. and experienced easterly winds all th-- way, backing to the northward approaching the New | Zealand coast. At 11 o'clock on Sunday nisht the. vessel, after running before a strong gale, was hove-to for three hours with topsail furled. At 2 n.m. on Monday, as the weather Bhowed ! signs of moderating, she ™ brought I before the wind, with tore lower topsail set, and made an exceptionally good run I to port.
