The Maharajah of Nabha, a Sikh principality of the Punjab, who abdicated recently, has advised the Sikh leaders in Amritzar that he disapproved of any action on their part regarding his restoration to the throne. He also dissociated himself from any movement disloyal to the British Government, which, he declared, would only lead to misery. A Council of Administration has been formed to look after the infant heir to Nabha. —(A. and N.Z. Cable.) The Maharajah voluntarily abdicated to avoid being deposed. It is stated there had been perversion by officials in Ihei State of Nabha of the administration oS justice for the purpose of damaging the State of Patiala, including systematized attacks by means of fabricated cases and the conviction of innocent persons. The Maharajah ignored official warnings, and the Government concluded that he was countenancing these proceedings. The Government hesitated to accept his abdication. The Maharajah abdicated in favour of his son. aged four. He undertook to reside outside the State, to pay substantial recompense to Patiala, anc", to remain loyally obedient to the British Crown and the Government of India. He, will be permitted to retain his titles, and will receive an allowance from the State.
