CITY MARKET SITE.

EXPIRING LEASES. NOT TO BE EXTENDED. Several of the leases in the old market endowment in Queen Street and Wellesley Street have expired and in accordance with authority already given, tenancies are being temporarily continued, stated the Mayor, Mr. J. Gunson, last evening in a report to the City Council. The majority of the remaining leases mature in December and January next, and the council might appropriately consider the position with regard to giving adequate notice of its intention to the occupiers of the respective premises. Th e report waa considered in committee and it was announced later that it was decided to give notice to the tenants, whose leases will expire in December and January, that they will not be extended beyond that ■time.
