PERSONAL.
The Hon. J. P. Campbell. M.L.C., returned to Wellington* last evening after a week-end, visit to Auckland. Mr, L. Nelson and Mr. H. Garrow, of 'Wellington, who arrived by the Main Trunk express this morning, are staying at the Grand Hotel. The Gisborne Borough Council has appointed Mr. J. G. Alexander, M.1.C.E., as borough engineer. Mr. Alexander is at present on leave in Kew Zealand from India, and takes up his duties on August 15. [ Mr.. J. P. Maxwell, cf Wellington, a member of the Board, of Inquiry .which is investigating the railway disaster at Ongarue, who was admitted to a private hospital on Sunday, suffering from pleurisy, is reported to be improving. Professor McMurrich, zoologist and professor of anatomy, of Toronto, with Mrs. McMurrich, left yesterday for Rotorua. He is visiting New Zealand, prior to attending the Science Congress at Melbourne. • Mr. A. E. Porritt, New Zealand Rhodes Scholar for 1923; is to arrive inWellington on Wednesday; prior to leaving for England. He will be met by the council of the Kew Zealand Amateur i Athletic Association. It is possible that he may represent New , Zealand at the Olympic Games. . .
