ANZAC DAY.
QUESTION IN PARLIAMENT. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, Monday. In the House of Representatives this afternoon, Mr. CM. J. Savage (Auckland West) referred to Mr. Justice Frazere recent decision in the Arbitration" Court," which showed that hourly and daily -workers would lose -wages pn. Ahzae Day, except in cases where provisions in the Factories Act or in aii Ward of;;tbp Court required them to be paid in full, while weekly workers, in the absence <*t any provision in their award permitting deductions to-be made, -would not lose wages in respect of Anzac Day. 'MrSavage gave notice of his intention to ask the Minister of Labour whether his. attention had been drawn to the diaeatisfaction which exists amongst wageearners owing to the existing legislation, which compels workers in receipt of an hourly or daily rate of pay to take a holiday without pay on Anzac Day. Mr. Savage asked the. Minister if he considers it advisable to amend the law ew as to provide for payment of wages for Anzac Day, or its commemoration on the nearest Sunday.,
