SMALLPOX AND TRADE.
EPIDEMIC HUSHED UP. VISITORS TO TRADE FAIR. DISEASE CARRIED TO OTHER TOWNS. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, June 22. A sensational situation concerning the smallpox outbreak at Gloucester lies in the fact that the authorities, knowing that they had the epidemic, permitted a trade fair to be he!*, at which thousands from all parts of the country attended. Accusations were made that there had been an attempt to conceal the position because it would be detrimental to the trade of the city. Cases believed to have their source at Gloucester have been reported at London and Liverpool.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
