HOSPITAL BOARD AFFAIRS.
. COSTLEY HOME DEVELOPMENT. COST OF MAIXTEXAXOE. The cost of outdoor relief as shown in the statement of receipts and payments of the Hospital Board for the month ending May 31, presented at the last meeting, was shown to be £1305 9/1. Compared with this strangely enough the Costley Home maintenance was £1307 14/1, or just £2 5/ more. With the increase of the relief work it was decided some time ago to appoint a male assistant and this has now be done. The Building Committee of the Hospital Board reported at Tuesday's meeting that they bad inspected the residence in the Costley Home grounds vacated by Or. McKelvey and recommended that the architect be instructed to prepare a scheme of alterations to the building showing accommodation for a total of 2-1 nurse attendants, together with a kitchen and extra bath and lavatory. The recommendation was adopted by the board. With regard to the new dining-room and lavatory accommodation at the shelters at the home. Mr. Rowe, the chairman of the Costley Home Committee, was authorised to put on sufficient men to conrploto the work, j The electric lighting of the home would soon be an accomplished fact.
