Tlie tine weather which set in earlier in the week proved of as short a duration as the other brief spells in the generally unpleasant conditions of the past few months. The sun shone brightly yesterday, a little over five hours being recorded, but towards evening a change was experienced, and about 5 o'clock it began to rain, and continued at intervals for the rest of the night. Shortly after 0 o'clock a particularly heavy downpour was felt, and in the early hours of this morning the rain was torrential. The sky was overcast this morning, and drizzling showers were experienced throughout the day. The gauge at the Albert Park observatory measured a fall of .35in during the 24 hours ended at 9 o'clock this morning, making a total of 5.02 in for the month. This already exceeds the average fall for June, which is 4.82 in. The maximum temperature in the shade yesterday was 61 degrees and the minimum 46.4 degrees. The lowest temperature on the grass was 45 degrees. The wind, which blew from the northwest at 9 o'clock this morning, attained a velocity of 145 miles for the preceding 24 hours. The reading of the barometer this morning was 29.548 in.
