PERSONAL.
Mr. E. G. Skeates was last night granted a month's leave of absence from the Birkenhead Borough Council, to take a trip to the Islands. Mr. M. Myers, X.C, who has been engaged during the last few days in a Supreme Court action, returned to Wellington last evening. He was accompanied by Mrs. Myers. Mr. Hope Gibbons, of Wellington, who arrived by this morning's Main Trunk express, is stopping at the Grand Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Harvey and Miss Harvey, of Staffordshire, England, are staying at the Grand Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Acland, of Christchurch, are also at the Grand Hotel. Messrs. G. L. Murray and H. A. Parker, of Sydney, and W. Cahill, of Wellington, arc included among those at present staying at the Grand Hotel. Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., is at present confined to his home with illness. Mr. F. F. Foord, of Christchurch, who is on a visit to Auckland is at the Grand Hotel. Dr. W. H. Davy, of Kaitaia, was a passenger by the Main Trunk express last night. He is going to Dunedin. Mr. T. E. Donne, C.M.G., secretary to Sir James Allen, High Commissioner for New Zealand in London, is shortly to retire. Mr. A. de Vere, of Dunedin, Mr. A. Williams, of Sydney, Mr. S. J. Pilgrim, of Wellington, "and 'Mr. A. M. West, of Christchurch, are visitors at the Central Hotel. i Mr. J. Horc. of the staff of Messrs.! Buddie, Richmond and Buddie was] admitted a barrister of the Supreme Court by the Chief Justice this morning. Mr. Hore will be acting ViceConsul for Denmark in the absence of Mr. Richmond, who leaves for Australia to-morrow.
