A J report was put before the board to-day showing that different schools had different practices, and in some cases there, was'reason for believing that the "short day" conceese'on was abused. "In this { fickle climate of ours," commented Mr. Garrard, "there is reason for giving headmasters some discretion in the matter of short days, but there should lie some regular system."
