THE PASSING OF A PIONEER.

Another one from the fast diminishing ranks of the early pioneers passed away a few days ago, when Mrs. Nicholas Pulham formerly of Warkworth. died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Wooller. Kemuera, at the advanced age of 8S yea rs. ins. Pnlhani was born in Glasgow ill lS:;.-> and t-ame to New Zealand with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Darroch in the Jane Gifford in 1542. The family settled at, Mnhurangi Heads where Mr". Darroch engaged in ship building for many years. .Mrs. l'ulhaiii was married to the lute 11. \V. Pulham in ISo-t, the ceremony was performed at Mahurangi Heads by Rev. David ISitice, and was the first wedding celebrated in the County of Kodncy. The newly married couple came *o reside on Mr. Pulhanvs farm at Warkworth, where Mrs. Pulham spent GO years of her lite. The main road through the property was called Pulham Road in honour of the family. Deceased was well and widely * known throughout the district, and ever took a very keen interest in local affairs and the welfare of the district. Mr. Pulham predeeeasecl his wife by 2(i years. Mrs. Pulham has left surviving her'three sons, Messrs. W. Pulham. of Warkworth, Geo. Pulham, of Pukekohe. and H. Pulham, of Kangiriri, and four daughters, Mrs. Hannytynr, of Tauranga. Mrs. Murray, of Cambridge, Mrs. Wooller, of Kemuera. and Mrs. Bear, of Te Puke. Also -11 grandchildren, and :S-i greatgrandchildren. The interment took place at the Presbyterian cemetery at, Wtirkwnrth on Sunday, Rev. K. M. Poole officiating. A number of old friends from distant parts of tho district assembled to pay their last respects to the .departed.
