MR. MASSEY'S ABSENCE.
A TRUCE SUGGESTED. The following remit was unanimously carried at the Farmers' Union Conference yesterday afternoon. '"That in the opinion of this conference a party truce should be arranged to enable the Prime Minister to attend the Imperial Conference." The president (Mr. Duxfield)) considered it a right and proper thing that Mr\Massey should go Home to the Conference as the representative of the Dominion. Mr. C. K. Wilson said that it was a recognised thing f - Dominions to send their representative Home to all important conferences; and he, too, thought that Mr. Massey should make the trip. He referred to Mr. Wilford's remark at Oamaru, when he said the Leader of the Opposition stated that Mr. Massey only wanted to get another Reform member so that he could have a sufficient majority to carry on while he went Home to the Conference. Mr. Wilson said that was a mean and paltry thing. Had Mr. Wilford been of the opinion that the Prime Minister should attend the Conference as the Dominion representative it would have been a tremendous advertisement for him. He said the Leader of the Opposition could have shown a little more fair play.
