REFUSAL OF OVERTIME.

A BREACH OF AWARD. WATERSIDE WORKER FINED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) this day. The late arrival of the ferry steamer Mararoa on Saturday, April 14, made it necessary to ask Wellington waterside workers to work overtime after 5 p.m., and their refusal to do so resulted in the Labour Department proceeding against a number of coal and cargo workers for recovery of the penalty for a breach of the award. The case of one member was taken as a test. Mr. Page, S.M., delivered judgment to-day. He held there wa3 a breach of section 110 of the Act and a breach of the award. A penalty of £1 was imposed in eaph case.
