THREATENED WITH DARKNESS
. COKE SUPPLIES SHORT. (By Telegraph. —Press Association.) ASHBURTON, this day. Ashhurton is threatened with darkness owing to shortage of coke at the power house. The Power Board purchased plant from the Borough Council this week, and then discovered that the coke stocks \vere depicted, which is unusual at this time of the year. There are only IS bags, whereas' 40 hags are required daily. Urgent appeals dispatched to all quarters revealed that the shortage was ' general. A small consignment of coke ' Feft Dunedin this morning, but the posi- '_ tion is critical.
