Telegraphically the position to-day is the came am yesterday. It is hoped to get connection with Kaikoura and Waiau to-day. The rainfall in Christchurch since Thursday has been 6.230, which beats all records. Mr. Skey, Director of the Magnetic Observatory, says that high records euch as 25in may ibe accepted as reliable, -as they would probably be due to cloud .bursts.
