GERMAN PRISON REVOLT.
WANT 1000 MARKS A DAY. POLICE BESIEGE MUTINEERS. LONDON, May 9. The Berlin correspondent of the "Daily Chronicle" report* that 800 inmates ot the Brandenburg prison revolted because they were not allowed to smoke or to have freedom of choke of reading matter. They also demanded 1000 marks a day extra pay for convict labour and more and better food. The convicts, who include the most desperate criminals in Germany, overwhelmed the warders, cmashed the furniture in their cells, and tore tiles from the roof.
